Every ten years or so I subscribe to National Geographic, but then I cancel after the first year because of something like what you suggest: the stories -- whether about trains or animals or cultures -- are all the same stories written the same way. They are informative stories, but they feel like unfeeling stories after a few issues. Nothing in the subject of the stories seems to jar the writers into new writing.
